As a Plastic Surgeon what matters to me is that my patients are being well looked after, and they have got access to the right information both before, during and after their treatment. I work with a team as a result that can deliver that sort of level of communication, so I have a secretary and she has an assistant, who are based in my office in Central London, I keep my notes there, and they provide all the back office support that allows me to come up to Spire Bushey to see patients up here, to go to the Wellington and see patients there. They are always available 5 days a week on the phone, we have a specialist nurse who deals with out of hours emergency calls, and in the hospitals, both Spire Bushey and the Wellington, obviously the nursing staff on the wards are there to take calls 24 hours a day should there be a problem.
So I feel that the nurses and the secretaries and the specialist nurses provide a very comprehensive level of cover the patients I would like to think always have access to someone to speak to if they have any concerns and anxieties. And actually that is very good for me as it means I am backed up by all the people I need, keeping the service ticking over and making sure patients know where they have got to be and when for their next step of care.
